Study with David C Gross

“I have come to believe that a great teacher is a great artist and that there are as few as there are any other great artists. Teaching might even be the greatest of the arts since the medium is the human mind and spirit.“. John Steinbeck

An Overview

I believe that if you hear something in your head, the only obstacle is finding a way to play it on your instrument.

My lessons stress Harmony, Theory, Dexterity, Reading, all of these when combined with Ear Training will give you the skills to play exactly what you hear In your head!

When you begin studying, it is crucial to study materials the right way. From fingerings to basic theory, all lessons should help you to accelerate your progress in a systematic way.

I have developed a number of strategies that will, if you practice regularly, get you up and playing quickly. Thanks

When you reach that stage of “ I have been practicing and playing with friends but I need something more. Now what do I do?”

A lot of bass players get stuck at this point. They know the bassics but have trouble putting it all together. I can help! Assessing where you are is a great place to start. Learning the fingerboard, knowing where every note of a particular scale or mode is and feeling confident wherever you are on your bass is key to being able to create interesting lines and solos.

If you are an advanced player

Wanting to up your game? We are at the stage where it’s time to really get into different scales and modes, upper tension chord tones and traversing the neck in different ways.

Articles

Below are a number of articles that I think will be helpful to your playing
